"The Visitation" by Ricky Tims - Quilt Mural Project
We are thrilled to share some exciting news—and invite you to be part of it! Ricky Tims’ quilt The Visitation has been selected by the committee of The Quilt Mural Project in Paducah, KY to become one of the larger-than-life murals on the city’s iconic floodwall. These extraordinary quilt murals are typically funded by a single benefactor or corporate sponsor. But this time, the honor has been given to all of us—the worldwide quilting community! Learn more about this amazing project and how you can contribute today!
Led by Gayle Hillert, former VP of Education for BERNINA of America, this effort celebrates Ricky’s decades of contribution and inspiration within our quilting world. By uniting together, we can make history: the bronze plaque that accompanies the mural will proudly read, “Sponsored by the Worldwide Quilting Community.”
The total sponsorship goal is $25,000. Each mural is a true work of art, replicating the quilt on a larger-than-life scale, and requiring nearly a year for the artist to complete. The process includes meticulous preparation, painting, and long-term preservation to ensure the quilt remains a vibrant part of Paducah’s cultural landscape for generations to come.
🌟 This is where you come in.
Your donation—whether $20, $50, $100, or more—will directly support this project. Every contribution matters, and every donor will be recognized on the Quilt Mural Project website as part of this unique and historic effort.
Together, we can make sure The Visitation shines on the floodwall as a lasting tribute to the power and spirit of quilting.
