Featured Quilt - A Spectacular "View"

Sandra Mollon is known for amazing and realistic landscape quilts, where she takes a picture of a location and transforms it into a quilt. From a distance or a glance, the real location and the quilt are indistinguishable from each other. She has performed her quilting magic again with her entry into the Pictorial Small category (Sponsored by AllBrands.com) at last year's Houston International Quilt Festival.

The quilt, Valley View, Yosemite, was created using a photo by Rick McGrath, with written permission to use. Sandra says of her work, "As a textile artist, I am interested in the aspects of reflection and transparency. The photo of this iconic location by Rick McGrath inspired me to try to replicate the feeling of the water reflecting both the sky and the mountains, while showing the transparency of the rocks below the surface in fabric. Fused, machine quilted, hand dyed fabric and mixed media."

Why Are Quilters Select Tools SO GREAT?

Because They Are Designed By Quilters!

Shop for rulers that are easy to read and don't slip when you cut, rotary cutters that are ergonomic and make changing the blade easier and safer, fabric markers that erase themselves over time, and lots more!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Soaking Up The "Sun"

"Sun Worship" by Barbara Yates Beasley

Sun Worship is based on a photograph that Barbara took of her dog Drew as he soaked up the sun on a beautiful day. It is just one of many quilts that Barbara made of her adorable dog. She says, "Last in the series of 13 Drews. This was that last nice fall day. While we raked leaves Drew sat in the middle of them and soaked up the warmth of the sun."
