Have You Seen the BOM 2021 in Wool?

Carole B decided to do the "Color My World" BOM 2021 Quilt in Wool. It is amazing!

The color, the stitching and the wonderful additions just below the houses make this a special quilt. Keep going, Carole.

This is really beautiful, Carole! Will you layer and quilt the linen? Curious how you will edge finish the linen. Congratulations on a fabulous applique and embroidery version of this very fun pattern.

I’ve downsized the original pattern to 65%. Ended up drawing my own pattern based on the original. When I added the garden, I decided to make it a bit wider, which resulted in the four spaces between houses at NSEW. Plan to hand stitch tree trunks for those and will probably have wool trees coming from behind for the others.

Do you plan on providing instructions on how to create the wool version? You stated that you reduced the size but I also see that the center medallion is different (it's really cool).

JoAnn, I’m just a newbie working on my first quilt, so honestly don’t feel qualified to provide instruction. On the compass, I ended up combining the two smallest pieces as it was getting too difficult to get a good point when cutting my wool. As it turned out, I have a few wonky points that may be torn out and redone at some point.

What is the backing the wool is sewn to, cotton or wool?

Hi Toni, I used linen for the wholecloth background.

I hate piecing with a passion and have never done the BOM’S over the years, but I love appliqué and will seriously consider doing this quilt in wool appliqué. What a great idea! I think I will even hand dye my wool.
