(Show 2805) The effervescent Sandra Johnson joins Alex to show her how to deconstruct denim for use in both quilts and clothing. She also uses quilts in her wearables and talks to Alex about where to find quilts (and denim) that are perhaps ready to be ‘cut up’ for another use. Sandra also finds that handwork is her “yoga” and demonstrates the Sashiko stitching that she uses on both her quilts and wearables. Khakis, greens, browns, and blue pants were cut apart and sewn together in different blocks depending on how big the pieces were. It's my husbands favorite - and I loved reusing the pants for something else.

This was a delightful guest. I enjoyed her perspectives on things, her quilts and their stories, and the stitching, not to mention her garment construction, and deconstruction. This was a fully packed show!
