(Show 3510) Meet Lorraine Woodruff-Long, a San Francisco fiber artist and quilter known for her vibrant use of color, improvisation, text, and repurposed fabrics. Her perspective on the world shifted after serving in the Peace Corps, leading her to fall in love with an urban city she called home for over twenty years. As a curious and resourceful artist, Lorraine primarily uses solid cottons, upcycled clothing, and thrift store finds in her quilts, occasionally sourcing from her husband's closet. She views quilts as a canvas for expression, often incorporating thought-provoking text to highlight topics she finds important.

I almost passed on this show because I think of myself as a traditional Quilter but I have to say I am so inspired by several of the tips shared by this guest. I can’t wait to try some new techniques. You can teach an old dog new tricks! Great Show.

I very much appreciate your concern. We have to walk a tightrope constantly with causes, issues, religions, orientations, and politics. Quilters have always used their art to express opinions and to feature their culture and their feelings. I...

I very much appreciate your concern. We have to walk a tightrope constantly with causes, issues, religions, orientations, and politics. Quilters have always used their art to express opinions and to feature their culture and their feelings. I believe it is important to never censor an artist or comedian, but it still rests on my shoulders what will be featured. I hope you agree that over 17 years we have done a pretty good job.
