Much like Rayna, in Home Ec class I got a lower grade for “not following directions.”

It was about 1968/69 when hip-hugger bellbottoms were the thing. I had already been making my own clothes since 1963 so I was experimenting in my own designing. I found some hot pink and lilac woven houndstooth plaid fabric. It was a soft faux-wool type of fabric. So I used it to make my hip-hugger bellbottoms but I liked “the wrong side” of the fabric better because it made little pyramids about 1/2” square. I also thought the bells weren’t wide enough so I made them “elephant bellbottoms.” I thought they were great and I wore them almost constantly for a couple years until I wore them out. I was just so cool in them.

I actually find Lemoyne stars easier to piece by hand! The seams take a few extra seconds, but there's very little set-up time.

Inklingo, who you featured recently, is also a really good way to piece Lemoynes.
