Presented by SAQA: "Over the course of ten years, Stitch Buffalo grew from an experimental weekly embroidery meetup for refugee women into a comprehensive textile arts center—graduating from borrowed community rooms to a 4600 sq. foot retail space and studio along the way. Each year, around 200 refugee women receive training, tools, and materials; earn money for their families; and find a safe space within their new host community. Founder and Executive Director Dawne Hoeg will tell the story of her vision, how it was brought to life, and how the programs and participants at Stitch Buffalo make it a welcoming place for everyone who loves textile arts."
