SAQA’s 2021 Benefit Auction Kicks Off September 10, 2021
From SAQA:
"The 2021 SAQA Benefit Auction is almost here—are you ready to bid Sept. 10 through Oct. 3?
A total of 470 art quilts made by SAQA members from around the world can be viewed at saqa.com/auction. Each piece measures 12 x 12 inches, and the subjects range from naturescapes to abstracts—something for everyone to love.
The Benefit Auction, now in its 15th year, helps support SAQA’s exhibition programs, publications, and education outreach—but it also gives bidders a chance to own a treasure created by one of their favorite artists or to discover the work of someone new to them.
Bidders will bid for and purchase their favorite works on the Handbid platform. You will find a link to that site, plus info on how the Benefit Auction works, at saqa.com/auction. To be ready to join the bidding battle, you must preregister and set up a Handbid account.
The auction kicks off Friday, Sept. 10, with Diamond Day, when any quilt is available for $1,000. Throughout the event, the first bidder is the winner. Beginning Monday, Sept. 12, the auction quilts are divided into three sections, with a new selection available each Monday at 2 p.m. ET (GMT/UTC -4). Bid prices then start at $750 per quilt and drop each day at 2 p.m. ET. By Saturday, the section bid price is $100. Want a quilt in a later section and you just can’t wait? It can be yours with a buy-it-now price of $1,000.
As you view the auction quilts, the variety is undeniable. Gorgeous florals and animal portraits capture the wonder of nature. Playful abstracts engage your imagination. The depiction of simple pleasures, such as wearing yellow boots on a rainy day, prompts a smile. You can catch the spirit of collecting these small works by designing your own eight-piece Dream Collection; each collection is posted on the SAQA website.
You will definitely want to take part in this year’s online bidding battle. SAQA invites you to enjoy every facet of the 2021 Benefit Auction with a visit to saqa.com/auction. Good luck"
