The Quilt Show Puzzle: "White on White" by Amy Pabst
Do a puzzle of Amy Pabst's quilt, White on White.
Inspired by Russian painter Kazimir Malevich's painting White on White of a white square on a white background, Amy's quilt, also titled White on White, features roughly 15,000 pieces and is made of five different white fabrics. Each of the white fabrics is made of a different fiber content, i.e. silk and others, providing them with their own distinct luminosities that allow the viewer to distinguish between the different whites. Measuring 16" by 17", Amy took her quilt with her to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and held it up next to Malevich's painting for a photo, achieving her goal of getting more quilts into fine art spaces.
