The Quilt Show Puzzle: "The Cemetery" by Susan Lenz
Do a puzzle of Susan Lenz's quilt, The Cemetery.
The Cemetery is a whole cloth quilt that contains one of Susan's largest grave rubbings from one of her favorite cemeteries located in Nottingham, England. The tombstones there are almost all made of slate making them excellent candidates for grave rubbings. This is because the slate can contain very intricate cravings that hold up over time and rub off well for Susan's designs. She says, "I planned this quilt more than many of my others. After a trip to Nottingham with Julie, I knew I wanted to return to the hundreds of perfect slate stone with a really big piece of silk."
