The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Pharaoh" by Sandra Leichner
Do a puzzle of Sandra Leichner's quilt, Pharaoh.
Pharaoh was Sandra's second appliqué quilt that she made. At the time, it was a great undertaking for her, but she persevered and finished it because she wanted the accomplishment of completing it. The subject matter was very enticing to Sandra, who had a strong interest in Egyptology. The quilt was completed in 2002, with Sandra only beginning her quilting career in 2000, and has won numerous awards since. Each quilt is personal for Sandra, with every one being sparked by someone in her life. Pharaoh was inspired by her parents who had visited Egypt, and made as a way to honor her grandfather who passed away before it was finished.
