Own a Piece of History While Supporting the Museum of Texas Tech

Were you aware that not all museums with textile collections are able to fund a curator? The Museum of Texas Tech University has one of the largest Clothing and Textile Divisions (including quilts) in the state of Texas, and one of the very few with a curator dedicated to its care, research, and exhibition. In order to ensure that there will always be a curator at the Museum of Texas Tech University the TTU Museum Association is holding an online quilt auction.

Now through March 6, 2022, you can bid on 53 beautiful pieces made by the prolific West Texas quilter, Linda Fisher (who we featured in the January 5, 2022 article) at this link https://benefitbidding.com/museum.ttu. Funds raised by the auction will go to the Endowment for the Curator of Clothing and Textiles position that the current staff and volunteers at the Museum of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas are trying to build.

Click here to learn more about the 73 quilts by Linda Fisher on exhibit. The auction through March 6, 2022 does NOT include any quilts from the Museum’s permanent collection.

Forever Blowing Bubbles by Linda Fisher.  This art quilt was created based on an exercise about shaped in Lyric Kinard’s book “Art Plus Quilt” which a small group of art quilters was working through in 2012.  It is machine quilted and measures 12” long x 13” wide.

Linda Fisher has a strong commitment to ensuring that our art of quilting is preserved and that someone is at the Museum to care for it in perpetuity. Please join her in this effort by bidding on and winning a piece or donating to the fund on the website.
