Featured Quilt - A "Love-Letter to London"

London Town by Nicola Dodd and quilted by Jayne Brereton was featured in the Two Person Quilts category at the 2023 Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England. Nicola says of her lovely quilt, "Although I'm a country girl at heart, nothing quite beats a trip to London and I've loved visiting with my boys during school holidays and seeing the city anew through their eyes. This quilt is my love-letter to London."

Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo and Sarah Vedeler Light The Way in Our Latest Show!

Appliqué and Machine Embroidery Come Out to Play

When textile artist, teacher, and author Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo traveled to India as an economic development volunteer she had no idea that a trip for a few months would change her life and result in a stay of nine years. Learn how this determined woman embarked on a full-time four-year apprenticeship and became a master in the rare Buddhist art form of Tibetan appliqué known as Thangka. In the show, Leslie demonstrates couching with horsehair and the Tibetan method for assembling an appliquéd lotus flower. Then Sarah Vedeler, the queen of Machine embroidery, shows you how to appliqué flowers with machine embroidery.

Watch Leslie and Sarah in Learn the Buddhist Art of Silk Applique with Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo | Applique with Machine Embroidery with Sarah Vedeler, which debuts today!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: What Do the Dots Make?

"Dog Gone" by Vicki Conley

Vicki has begun to play around with apps on her iPad to create new designs for her quilts. However, she doesn't just print these digital designs on fabric and quilts them, she takes the time to figure out how to piece them out of fabric. So the dot pattern featured in Dog Gone of her dog Skunk was created using one such app which Vicki then figured out how to make using appliqué shapes that were cut out with a cutting machine.
