Featured Quilt - Best of Show at The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show 2022

Lullabye in 3/4 Time by Barbara Clem is the newly crowned Best of Show winner at The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show 2022. In addition to its Best of Show win, it also took home Best Hand Quilting at Road to California 2022 this year and Second Place - Traditional at the Mancuso 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival last year.

As to how the award-winning quilt came to be, Barbara had this to say, "I needed a project to carry along when I traveled with my husband. All the fabrics came from my stash and since time was of the essence, quickly assembled my motifs in a medallion style. I added the pale yellow to bring that center hung square to life and proceeded to add more of my curvy vines, flowers and leaves till I was happy. She is lightly embroidered... enhanced with beautiful hand quilting and light trapunto. She is a happy quilt."
Week 10 of Transform Your Quilting is now in the books. Time to wrap up what we learned this week.
First up it was Alex teaching you the importance of a good pressing technique in Pressing Matters (technique). Show 1411 - Click on Chapter 1.

Then Sandra Leichner showed us How to Achieve Those Perfect Points (technique) in your hand appliqué in Show 1701 - Click on Chapter 2.

Followed up by two great tips from Cindy Seitz-Krug including Find Out Why You Need More Feet (tip) and Look Ahead and Your Hands Will Follow (tip). The first tip helps you decide which presser foot to use for your project and the second Cindy calls one of the best tips she can give you to improve your machine quilting.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: It's Time For A Polka Party
"Let's Polka" by Candace Hassen

Candace use to go to a health club all the time for yoga class, and at the club she kept seeing this wall hanging over and over again that had very simple geometric shapes, a lot of dots, and a lot of lines. From this wall hanging, an idea grew for Candace, realizing she could take those designs and make something from them. And thus, Let's Polka was born. The quilt is quilted by Regina Carter, and it's one of Candace's favorite patterns to teach because it's a great sample quilt for beginners and fun for experienced quilters who take the simple blocks and run wild with ideas.

See more of Candace's quilts in Make a Simple Traditional Quilt that Looks Complex with Candace Hassen | Embroidery Machine Quilting with Connie Fanders.
