In addition to creating beautiful landscape quilts, Meri Henriques Vahl is also an expert in populating those quilts with lifelike figures to add to the realism of her work. Learn from Meri how to create and add life to the face of a "paper doll" person using a Renaissance technique and soft layers of color to create the same effect in your work.
Gelato Girls is a piece from Leni's "Park Bench Stories" exhibit. Leni writes of the quilt, "I am a park bench. I am no different whether I reside in New York, Santa Fe, Venice, Prague, Vienna or in any small town anywhere in the world. I remain in place all seasons of the year, in all weather, year after year, gazing at the same scenery. People come to visit me–some are regular visitors, some pass my way but once."
