Featured Quilt - The Superior Threads Master Award for Thread Artistry at Houston 2023
The 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival is happening right now in Houston, Texas and we have one of the winners for you direct from the floor of the show. Winning The Superior Threads Master Award for Thread Artistry, Fullness is Yoshiyuki Ishizaki's whimsical and colorful take on a Baltimore Album quilt. Featuring stunning and creative thread designs, hence the award, the work speaks for itself when you see it, but we'll let Yoshiyuki provide you with a little more insight too.
She says, "Embroidery has been added to the traditional Baltimore Album to make the appliqué stand out. Look for the hidden chameleon and praying mantis. Even the sparrows that came to the balcony joined in!"

"Victorian Flower Garden" by Margaret Willingham
For Victorian Flower Garden, Margaret wanted to create a quilt where each of the flowers, and the quilt itself, could be made by hand or machine using reverse applique combined with applique. This allows the pattern to provide the quilter with many options to choose from depending on their preference. The quilt was featured at the Houston International Quilt Festival in the Appliqué Juried competition.
