Featured Quilt - Jill Kerttula Judge's Choice Award at Houston 2022
In addition to the main categories at quilt shows, like Best in Show, Best Machine Quilting, and so on, there are usually special awards given by the judges to quilts that they find merit praise on their own. At the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival, Judge Jill Kerttula gave her Judge's Choice Award to Kimberly
Lacy's quilt, Ammonite Flow. Kim, who has been a guest on The Quilt Show, just loves ammonites and fossils and incorporating their designs into her work. For this quilt, she said, "In my ongoing exploration of using ammonites in my designs and quilts, I have landed on stacking ammonites in a waterfall configuration."

Listen To a Great Story from a Wonderful Storyteller (and Quilter!)
For our spotlight on the Quilters' Save Our Stories (QSOS) program from the Quilt Alliance this week, we are featuring someone who has been on The Quilt Show before, but not as a main guest. Pat Sloan was featured on our show as part of a remote shoot to talk about her time hosting a quilting podcast. For this QSOS, Pat talks about her quilt, Times Remembered, her most important moments as a quilter, and what Pat Sloan's favorite part about "being Pat Sloan" is.

"Peaceful Peacock" by Colette Dumont
Peaceful
Peacock is a stained glass quilt and the first quilt that Colette submitted to a contest. It was at the 2014 Vermont Quilt Festival, and unfortunately, Colette could not attend because she was, as she puts it, "raking the hay". So a friend of hers took it to the show for her and called Colette when she was "raking" to tell her that she had won First Place in the Domestic Sewing Machine Quilting category. It was the first time she had won and it made her feel very good and encouraged her to make more quilts.
