Featured Quilt - An After Thanksgiving Treat

Aki Sakai has done it again. Known for creating quilts with astounding appliqué and embellishments (and on a very small scale), her amazing Quilt, Happy Thanksgiving (53" x 53"), won 1st place Appliqué at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2021. Along with the appliqué it is hand pieced, embellished, and embroidered.

She writes, "Appreciating the blessings of nature, I made this quilt while thinking about the origin of Thanksgiving."

And we give thanks for the beauty that Aki brings to the quilting world.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: An Amazing Austen Quilt
"Love and Friendship" by Linda Franz

Love and Friendship was inspired by Dear Jane blocks and Jane Austen patchwork. A fervent fan of Austen, Linda worked with the Jane Austen Memorial Trust and has visited her house in England many times. This quilt formed the basis of Linda's first book, Quilted Diamonds, and as you may have guessed, the quilt is named after the Austen novel.
