Featured Quilt - Best Interpretation of Theme Traditional at PIQF 2021

Stairway To Heaven by Pam Morgan Holt won Best Interpretation of Theme in the Traditional category at PIQF 2021. Pam says, "This quilt was inspired by a tumbling blocks quilt that I saw at the De Young Museum Amish Abstractions quilt show in 2009. When I saw the traditional Amish tumbling blocks quilt, I knew I needed to create a similar one in rainbow batiks. The Compass rose at the top is machine paper pieced. The rest of the quilt is hand pieced. The quilt took over 10 years to complete with many starts and stops."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: See the Dresdens in Bloom
"Blooming Dresden" by Lee Chappell Monroe

Blooming Dresden is another of Lee's quilts from her "Dresden Period". The concept of this one being, "What happens when you put dresdens on top of dresdens?" Lee says, "It's no secret that I love a dresden! I designed this quilt after playing around with how small dresdens interact with large dresdens. They bloom!"
