Welcome to Wednesday - May 25, 2022
Featured Quilt - Cruising to Great Success

If there has been a common theme in the winners at AQS Quiltweek 2022 in Paducah, it's that if a quilt won an award there then it most likely has won an award at another show too. That rings true for today's quilt too, as Fabulous Welcome by Brigitte Villeneuve, Diane Coté, and Doris Boivin won 1st Place - Group Quilts (Sponsored by The Grace Company) at AQS Quiltweek 22, First Place - Pictorial at Road to California 2022, AND Second Place - Pictorial at Houston 2021. Find out what this cruise ship quilt is all about by clicking through to see it!

From the Museum of Texas Tech University - Old Glory Quilt
A “Nickname” Quilt Designed by Mary Erckenbrack

As we celebrate patriotic holidays this summer, Mary Erckenbrack’s Old Glory Quilt is a great piece to consider. Although the Museum’s example is only a quilt top, it is a rare example of this pattern designed by artist Mary Erckenbrack (1910-1992). Read all about this quilt and more of its historical background by clicking through.
In The Store - Earth Views Fabrics designed by Astronaut Karen Nyberg for Robert Kaufman
Fabric That Is Out of This World

These ethereal fabric designs are made from photos of the Earth's mountains, deserts, oceans, clouds, and farmland. Taken by Astronaut Karen Nyberg from the International Space Station, they capture the importance and fragility of our Earth while they inspire with its beauty. Learn more about Karen's fabric line by reading our blog about it, or hear Karen talk about being an astronomical quilter in a Textile Talk.
The Quilt Show Puzzle: Just Be Yourself and You'll Be Fine
"Just Be" by Joanne Sharpe

Just Be is another inspirational quilt from Joanne Sharpe, whose quilts and fiber art pieces are filled with vibrant colors and joyous words. Her love of philosophy and her life work as an art teacher for all grade levels brings a special "joie de vivre" to her art, which started on canvas and paper, and is now incorporating fabric. This quilt, like many of her other quilts, is done almost exclusively with paint and free-motion quilting.

See more of Joanne's quilts in How to Put Words on Quilts with Joanne Sharpe | How to Make Fabric Bowls with Jennifer Murche.
