"Setting A Clear Course For The Stars" by Patricia Belyea
The background fabric
of Setting A Clear Course For The Stars is made from blocks of Yukata cotton. After creating the grid of blocks, Patricia inserted curved elements on the seams. This quilt is the beginning of a series for Patricia entitled Life Breaks In. The goal of the series is to create a grid of blocks for each quilt, representing the orderly nature we strive for in life but then life just breaks in, which are the curved elements in the quilt that she pieces into the background. Patricia says that if she didn't make this quilt, she wouldn't have been able to do the "What If" to make the next quilt, to make the next quilt, and so on.
