Weekend Fun - March 4, 2022
Featured Quilt - First Place Group or Bee at Quiltcon 2022

Unscripted by Sarah Ruiz knows its numbers just as well as it knows its A, B, C's because it won First Place in the Group or Bee Quilts category at Quiltcon 2022. Sarah says, "I have always been interested in both the artistry and technical skill of typography and lettering, and decided to kick off the new Quilts Unscripted bee in June 2021 with a text-inspired prompt. My beemates helped me create this colorful, improv-pieced, modern take on an alphabet quilt. I love the mix of abstract, wonky, funky letters, and the bright, saturated color palette feels playful and happy."

Have You Tried Quilters Select 80 WT. Para-Cotton Poly yet?
Thrilling Thread To Get Your Project Going

Use Quilters Select 80 WT. Para-Cotton Poly any place where you want your stitches to disappear - appliqué, binding, etc., or as a bobbin thread. Don't believe us? Here's what stitchers are saying about it:

O. says, "I absolutely l love this thread! It goes through my english paper piecing like butter. It doesn't tangle or break. My stitches are virtually invisible!! I plan on using this thread for my applique as well... This is my favorite thread."

B. says, "I just tried the 80wt to hand sew the back of this binding and instantly fell in love with! Is that possible to love thread? Well I'm sold. I won't go back to my old."

J. says, "Quilted with para-cotton in top and bobbin of machine on a quilting weekend. I sewed noon on Friday until Sunday morning on ONE bobbin! ...Not having to change thread while piecing was amazing and increased my efficiency."
The Quilt Show Puzzle: An Early Exercise In Improv
"Windowsill" by Riane Elise

Windowsill is an improv quilt made early in Riane's quilting career before she started designing quilts. Densely quilted, the stitching is much different than the style she uses now. It is an early experiment in the dense hand quilting style she would use in later quilts, and is also the first quilt she had featured at Quiltcon.
