Weekend Fun - March 11, 2022
Featured Quilt - Exploring Outer (Quilted) Space

We love a clever quilter, particularly when what they say is true. Take a look at the quilt Perseverance by Sarah Ruiz at Quiltcon 2022; it might take a minute, but the message is clear. Included in the Small Quilts category, it is machine quilted and hand embroidered.

And if you missed it last week, Sarah was also one of the quilters of Unscripted, which won First Place in the Group or Bee category at Quiltcon 2022.

Keep Those International Quilting Weekend Prizes Coming!
Oh Boy! This Prize Rules!

Direct from Quilters Select for International Quilting Weekend, how would you like to win a set of 18 Quilters Select Non-slip Quilting Rulers? These Non-slip quilting rulers stay in place as you cut - even on slippery or silky fabrics. These rulers are valued at $600.
In Case You Missed It, Here's Wednesday's Quilt Again!

We experienced some technical difficulties in our Wednesday Newsletter with our featured quilt, so we wanted to make sure that everyone got a chance to see this award-winning quilt in all its glory!

Intersections #11 - Twilight
by Kathy Mack won First Place in the Fabric Challenge at Quiltcon 2022. Given four particular fabrics as a starting point, Kathy made an outstanding improvisational quilt.

Artist Statement: "Created as part of a series focused on intersecting lines. Exploring the interplay of line, color and value within the parameters of the Artisan Cotton Fabric Challenge."
On The Set With Tommy Romano
Who's On The Scene Behind The Scenes?

On The Quilt Show this week, go behind the scenes as Tommy Romano is back to share skill builder quilt basics, advice on working with pre-cut jelly rolls, and a Sudoku based quilt using 9-Patch blocks. Then it's time for a stop in LaGrange, TX for one of the country’s 10 best quilt museums, The Texas Quilt Museum. Founders Karey Bresenhan and Nancy O’Bryant Puentes restored a historic former furniture store into a fantastic exhibition space for rotating quilt exhibitions.

Watch Tommy and visit the Texas Quilt Museum in How to Make Two Different Beginner Friendly Quilts with Tommy Romano | Tour the Texas Quilt Museum
, when it debuts this Sunday, March 13, 2022.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Minimal In Design, Big On Impact
"Parlour" by Riane Elise

Very minimal in its design with only two tones / colors, Parlour is unique for Riane because it uses french knots as ties. It is something that she has been experimenting with in her other work, tied quilts in a modern and new way. For her, it is a good exmaple of trying something new, but featuring new techniques.
