Featured Quilt - Second Place Group Quilts at Paducah 2023

Gyrolicious by QUTI (Quilting Under The Influence) won Second Place in Group Quilts (Sponsored by the Grace Company) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023. The group, consisting of Linda Brown, Linda Finney, and Marilyn Badger, based their quilt on a pattern by Claudia Meyers. For those unaware, a gyro is "a spinning mass that rotates around its axis," so it's no surprise that the quilt was named so aptly. With several whirring cogs and gears meshing seamlessly to form a smooth-flowing image from one corner of the quilt to the next, this quilt, like the group who made it, is one smooth-running machine.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Going Around In Circles

"Circle Play" by Sue Nickels

Circle Play was made using both of Sue's rulers, the straight line and circle wedge, but created with a focus on the wedges. Incorporating different size circle wedge rulers that can make complete circles, portions of circles, and other variations, Sue's inspiration for the quilt's design was Mid-Century Modern art.
