Featured Quilt - Pure Pineapple Perfection - 1 1/2" blocks

Pure Velvet is a stunning Pineapple block quilt (a log cabin variation) by Amy Pabst that was created from some interesting fabrics, including silks, velvets, and polyesters. Each block measures 1 1/2" (yes, 1 1/2" inches) and has 49 pieces. Amy pieced Pure Velvet on a Singer Featherweight and then quilted it on her BERNINA.

With a total of 21,609 pieces, (but who's counting?) Pure Velvet won First Place, Pieced Wall, at Road to California 2020 and most recently Second Place - Small Wall Quilts: Quilter’s Choice (Sponsored by Janome America; Longarm) at AQS Quiltweek 2022 in Paducah.
Build Beautiful Blocks with Heather Black
Block Design Has Never Been More Fun

In our brand new show, Heather Black shows Alex how to make a block design more interesting with small changes; a themed color palette, increasing contrast (for emphasis), adding depth (to draw attention), and value change. Heather says that all of these small tweaks help to "ground" the block. She shows examples of small works featuring all of these elements.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Celebrate Winter in Summer
"Winter Encounter" by Carol Ann Sinnreich

Winter Encounter is a beautiful outdoor scene quilt by Carol Ann Sinnreich depicting the cold of winter and the reality of nature. Here's what Carol Ann has to say about her work, "Snow, cold wind, predators and opportunity force wildlife to keep moving. Winter scenes are more colorful. Reflective light from snow creates a multitude of colors setting the mood and the challenge."
