Featured Quilt - Second Place Wall Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024
Corroboree - A Festival Gathering by Ann Horton won Second Place - Wall Quilts: Stationary Machine Quilted (Sponsored by Baby Lock USA presented by Calico Country Sew & Vac) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2024. A corroboree is "an Australian Aboriginal dance ceremony which may take the form of a sacred ritual or an informal gathering," which is where the title of Ann's quilt come from. The outside border of the quilt contains animals one might find down under, including kangaroos and platypus', which Ann has lovingly recreated using a combination of hand appliqué and hand embroidery, along with some machine quilting techniques. Be on the lookout though, as these animals plus more
are also hiding in plain sight in the fabric used throughout the quilt.
See more of Ann's work, and learn from her too, right here on The Quilt Show by watching her in How to Make a Landscape Quilt with Laura Fogg | How to do Machine Embroidery with Ann Horton. To view Ann's segment, click Chapter #4 on the right-hand side of he screen once the show begins playing.
