Featured Quilt - Ricky's Book Inspires Award Winner
Ricky's novel, Lizzy Albright and the Attic Window, has now done more than just be a wonderful read for quilters the world over, it has now inspired an award-winning quilt. Cindy Bell Neville's quilt, Lizzy's Jumping Jacks, won Honorable Mention - Wall Quilt at the 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival. Cindy's says of her inspiration, "Lizzy's Jumping Jacks was inspired by the book Lizzy Albright and the Attic Window by Ricky Tims and Kat Bowser. During Lizzy's journey in a magic land, she comes across flowers called Jumping Jacks. Ricky's hand-dyed fabrics were perfect for colorful flowers, and I had a wonderful time playing with thread color to make the flowers come alive."
We recently featured a Textile Talks from the International Quilt Museum discussing the evolution of Abstract design in quilts over the previous fifty years. Today we'd like to go more in depth with that exhibit, called the single most influential quilt exhibition ever, when the Whitney Museum of Arts covered its walls with antique quilts in 1971 and its current revival in 2021.
If you enjoyed the Textile Talks on Abstract Design in Quilts, you might enjoy their next topic of discussion on crafting with technology. Join Dr. Nithikul Nimkulrat, Olivia Valentine, Lee Jones, along with moderator Khadija Aziz, today (7/7/2021) as they consider how hand and machine contribute to the potential of crafts.
These talks are also available after original airdate.

A Case That Fits Like a Glove
Amy Barrett-Daffin, a C&T publisher who enjoys quilting in her spare time, shares tips and tricks for making an iPad cover project that uses TAP (Transfer Artist Paper) and Kraft-tex in our latest show.
As seen in our new show in Amy Barrett- Daffin's (Show 2901) iPad sleeve project, Transfer Artist Paper (TAP) lets you transfer your imagination into art.
Print, paint, stamp or draw your image onto TAP and then iron it on to almost any surface!
Have fun with fabric, paper, wood, glass, metal, and more!
Prickly Pear might look complex, but it's really the fabric that does all the work. Once you pick a really great fabric for the stacked repeats throughout, the rest of the quilt is a breeze. Marci says a confident beginner could make this quilt.
