Featured Quilt - Another Quilt Show BOM Wins Two Ribbons

It's happened again, a TQS Block-of-the-Month quilt has won two ribbons. Here is the great news from one of our members, Carole Behan Berry:

"Wanted to share that my 2021 BOM quilt (Wendy Williams’ Color my World’ which I have named ‘Home’) is hanging in its first quilt show in Augusta, Maine. Today when I arrived I found two ribbons!

A first in my category and Best Use of Embellishment. Once again, thank you for bringing this amazing design to us! Since joining TQS, I have connected with the most wonderful people in the quilting and embroidery worlds. Thank you!

FYI, my quilt has been juried into the AQS Grand Rapids show in September. Road trip!"

Wait, as we write this we just learned that Carole's quilt won one more ribbon - Viewer's Choice!

Congratulations Carole!

Kestrel Michaud Shows You Raw Edge Appliqué With No Fraying

Picture Any Design You Want and You Can Make It Happen

Clean edges and stability for machine quilting thousands of fused pieces in place are very important to Kestrel Michaud. In our latest show, she shares her technique for how to achieve a crisp paper-like-feel fabric resulting in no frayed edges when cut with a digital cutting machine and machine quilting. She discusses how her method streamlined the cutting and quilting of 500 leaf cluster filled trees for a recently completed quilt.

Work on August In July

Start your month off right by getting a jump on Month 8 of the TQS 2023 BOM, Homeward Bound, designed by Sarah Fielke. This month, you are going to continue the appliqué for Border 3. You will be stitching the flowers to the top of the central circles, and to the smaller stems.

There are TWO downloads for this month, the pattern instructions and the templates, along with a video from Sarah where you'll see how the flower shapes align as you add them to the large appliqué border.

PLEASE NOTE: Barbara Black's monthly BOM LIVE video where she gives you tips on tricks on how to complete that Month's patterns will NOT be in its regular first Friday of the Month spot. It instead will air earlier this Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 10am PST, 1pm EST, and 6pm London time. All classes are recorded so they can be viewed later.
