Featured Quilt - Running Around in "Cyrkles"
The paths between a traditional quilt and a Modern one get blurred more and more each day due to the creativity of today's quilters. Take Susan Braverman's quilt Cyrkles for example, which was featured at QuiltCon Atlanta 2023. While utilizing a nine-block style of a traditional quilt, the bold and graphic shapes call to mind that of Modern quilters, no wonder
it was in the Modern Traditionalism category at the show.
Susan says of her work, "This quilt design uses a drunkards path block repeated, resized and recolored to create depth. The visual result is an inset appearance for the central area. Solid fabrics in both muted and bold colors provide contrast while the use of big, big shapes gives a modern feel to the design even though a traditional grid layout is used."

For Your Inspiration - A Modern Bridge in Singapore
The Majestic Henderson Waves Bridge
Captn' John's next inspirational bridge is the
Henderson Waves Bridge in Singapore. What inspired this bridge? Nature of course. As with many of us, nature can spark our creativity and this bridge is no exception. It was inspired by the undulating shape of waves. And while this bridge provides a traditional method of a walkway in its basic sense, it has a modern presence that is a thing of beauty.
