Featured Quilt - Strength, Determination, A Great Quilt

Paula Doyle (Show 2307), a TQS favorite and all around great quilter, is back with another award-winning quilt. Yukata Bee Quilting won Second Prize in the Contemporary category at Festival Quilts in Birmingham, UK. It was quite the journey for Paula to complete this quilt as she began experiencing health issues at the start of quilting it, and it almost didn't even make it into the show! "I completed the quilt entry forms while I was in hospital, and finished quilting the quilt with just a week to spare until it needed to be shipped off to the show! The quilt was made using 4 panels of a vintage Yukata block print and the Easy Stack technique for a Bright Hopes block I demonstrated when I came to visit the show Colorado in 2018." Paula is now doing better and we are very happy to congratulate her on a much deserved win!

And keep your eyes on your newsletters, as we will have some photos showing how Paula made this spectacular quilt very soon.

"After Four Years, the Kimono Project is Complete"

"Back in 2017, Japanese international outreach organization Imagine Oneworld started the Kimono Project, with the aim of creating a unique kimono pattern for every country on Earth. The designs would be developed in cooperation with that country’s embassy and embody influences from and references to their unique cultures, histories, and natural and architectural beauty."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Go For The Gold

"Three Handstands" by Judy Ahlborn

Judy writes about her quilt, Three Handstands: "I have a lifelong love of gymnastics and respect for all women athletes. This is a celebration of women in sports and the tremendous effort it takes to not only balance one’s family with work, social, or school life, but to add the challenge of keeping up with a busy training schedule. Since the 1970’s women have enjoyed more freedom in competing in sports at the international level and professionally, as well as earning athletic scholarships to college that were not available to our grandmothers."
