Proving that persistence pays off, Flower Calendar by Sachiko Chiba, which took Second Place in the Hand Crafted / Hand Made category (Sponsored by Flynn Quilt Frame Company) at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival last year, just received the Best Hand Workmanship Award at AQS QuiltWeek - Grand Rapids 2024. This stunning floral quilt, with beautiful, amazing, and award-winning handwork, took much dedication and hard work on Sachiko's part to finish. She says, "It took me a long time to create this design. I carefully selected various fabrics and had a hard time expressing the characteristics of each flower. I'm so happy I am able to complete this quilt to my satisfaction." Congratulations Sachiko! |

"Gilding the Arbor" by Bethanne Nemesh
Bethanne writes of Gilding the Arbor, "This silk dupioni quilt is an original design inspired by my love of whole cloth quilting, Asian silk embroidery and antique botanical prints. All the flora and fauna was free drawn on the quilt with chalk and refined with wash out pen before quilting. The design elements can be recognized in my garden photography, as well as images from gardening catalogues and Dover design books."
