Featured Quilt - Honorable Mention Other at Road to California 2024
Really 'Wild' Flowers! Fourth Season by Sharon Schlotzhauer received an Honorable Mention in the Other category at Road to California 2024. Sharon says of her quilt, “Fourth and final quilt in my whimsical and very dimensional, "Really 'Wild' Flowers!" series. The most complex quilt I've made to date. A playful garden scene of 'wild' (as in crazy, fanciful, imaginative) flowers, arches, and butterflies. Designed to be bright and joyful! Some of the flowers have what I call, "open centers." Others are layered and appliquéd as are the butterflies. Adorned with Swarovski crystals, beads, buttons, metal charms.”

Walking Foot Quilt Designs With Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill
Learn To "Walk" Before You Run
Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill shows ideas for quilting designs when you are uncertain and want to move on from stitching-in-the-ditch. In our latest show she talks about how auditioning with sketches on tracing paper allows you to test an idea (cross-hatch, echo quilting, quilting out into the border, etc.) before ever stitching into the quilt. She then shares how using a Hera marker can become a guideline and examples of how to improve your straight line quilting using a walking foot with a guide.
Learn from Sheri, and Ricky Tims, by watching Paper Piecing, Walking Foot Quilt Top Design - Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill | Free-Motion Quilting Without Marking - Ricky Tims.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Taken By The Passage of Time

"Times Past" by Ann P. Shaw
Ann says of the subject matter that inspired her quilt, Times Past, "I love tackling different subjects in my pictorial quilts. I’m particularly fond of the shapes of boats - the sleek, curved hulls designed to cut effortlessly through water. Rowboats are simple, elegant crafts. Powered by hand using oars, they seem to beckon to a slower, simpler time. This boat was partly swamped, having aged and fallen into disuse. But it was also filled with memories of times past…"
