Featured Quilt - An Amazingly Appliquéd Floral Quilt
Flor de Las Flores by Liza Harrison was featured as part of the Appliqué category, sponsored by The Quilt Show itself, at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2024. A lovely floral quilt, Liza's piece was inspired by not only her own flower garden but also her mother, and acts as a touching tribute to her in both its namesake and design. She says, "The inspiration for this quilt came from my flower garden. I love looking closely at each flower to see the amazing and unique detail. Flor de Las Flores loosely translates to "most beautiful flower." This is in memory of my mom, Toni. Her maiden name was Flores."

Barbara Black's Tips for "Pick a Petal" Month 12 |
The Quilting and The Finishing Are Upon Us for "Pick a Petal"
It's the last month of the year, which means it's the last time Barbara Black is going to provide you with her expert insight into making our 2024 Block Of the Month, Pick a Petal designed by Jen Kingwell. (Don't worry, Barbara isn't going anywhere and will be back next year to help you with the 2025 Block Of the Month) How will you finish Month 12 of Pick a Petal? Barbara says, "This month the pattern instructions show how to assemble various parts of the quilt. Most of us did this as we were making the quilt. If you are ready for the quilting, it's time!"
PLEASE NOTE: After December 31, 2024 The Quilt Show will no longer be able to provide you the patterns for Pick a Petal. We strongly recommend downloading all of the patterns before then to avoid any issues that might arise after the first of the year. To make this easier for you, we have a single convenient file that contains all 12 months' patterns. |

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Dazzling Dresdens on Display

"Georgia's Dresden" by Lee Chappell Monroe
Made in collaboration with FreeSpirit Fabrics, Georgia's Dresden was created using Anna Maria Horner fabrics, both for the dresdens and the background. Anna's fabrics are often very large scale, and by crafting her dresdens using that fabric Lee was able to create some really interesting secondary designs because of the different shapes and colors coming together.
