Alaska Row by Row Quilt Update - Made by Gail Surrena

In Monday's newsletter we featured the Alaska Row by Row quilt, which was misidentified as being made by Janet Lutz. While Janet featured this quilt on our show all about the Row by Row phenomenon, it was actually made by Gail Surrena. Find out more about Gail's Alaska Row by Row and her journey with the project over time.

Gail's Statement:

"My first row X row quilt was nominated by Maret Anderson at Seams Like Home Quilt Shoppe in Anchorage Alaska to help kick off Row X Row in Europe, traveled oversees, and eventually previewed on The Quilt Show! Very honored to have been a part. My name and the list of quilts was printed on the back and each row has the shop name and location embroidered on the bottom. To fill in the sides, I included several of the license plates I collected. I have made three total Row by Row quilts and was the first to finish and present to a quilt shop three years in a row. My second quilt won at the Calico Cow in Delta Junction Alaska and the third (and largest...24 rows) won at Seams Like Home Quilt Shop again."

See Gail's quilt, along with more of her Row by Row Quilts, in the photos below.

Beautiful work. I have a bin full of RXR kits that I need to get working on. Your finished quilts are inspiring.
