The Quilt Show Puzzle: "Oman-Niche" by Sue Nickels
Do a puzzle of Sue Nickels' quilt, Oman-Niche.
After being a part of her Paradigm quilt group for a while, Sue felt she was comfortable to start stepping outside of the box a little bit with her quilt ideas. One such idea was born from her travels as a teacher. Having traveled to Dubai to teach, Sue took a side trip to Oman where she visited the grand mosque. Taking beautiful photos of the niches around there, her Oman-Niche quilt was inspired by one of those pictures. The ruler work done on the quilt was the straight-line quilting, but Sue really thrived in interpreting the open space with intricate free-motion and machine quilting.
