Featured Quilt - Best Machine Quilting Framed, Needle Moves at Quiltcon 2023

Almond Country Beauty by Rana Heredia won Best Machine Quilting Framed, Needle Moves at Quiltcon 2023. About the creation and design of the quilt, Rana has this to say: "This pattern was designed by me when I was the BOM chair for my local guild, Almond Country Quilt Guild. It was offered as a free pattern to the members, and has since transitioned into a commercial pattern. I have made this quilt numerous times, but this iteration, done in Kona solids, is definitely my favorite! The design was inspired by the work of Karen K. Stone. Machine quilted by Tiffany Barcus of Montana."

Textile Talks: Keidra Daniels Navaroli - Experimentation and Innovation in Textiles

The Future Is Now

What artists are doing with textiles these days couldn't even be perceived 100 years ago, maybe even 20 years ago. In this week's Textile Talk from the Quilt Alliance, scholar and curator Keidra Daniels Navaroli brings together a group of artists who "are pushing the perceived boundaries of textile practice" and "whose work provides opportunities for public engagement."

Register today and watch when this episode airs this Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 2 PM EDT.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Magnificent Mosaic Quilt

"Blossomed" by Heidi Proffetty

Here's what Heidi had to say about her quilt Blossomed when she first made it. "This quilt is based on a photograph I recently took of my daughter as I watch her grow and blossom into a beautiful young woman. I hand drew the mosaic design. It is raw edge, fused and then free motion stitched. There are over 4,000 tiny pieces that make up this quilt."
