Featured Quilt - National Juried Show Viewers Choice at Quilt Canada 2025
Reading is Healing by Carol Chenier was chosen as the National Juried Show Viewers Choice at Quilt Canada 2025. Quilted by Carol Cote, it features a bookshelf containing several hundred books, most of which Carol Chenier has read. She says, "In 2000 during a difficult time in my life, I turned to books as an escape, reading 265 books in just 18 months. I carefully documented these books onto a spreadsheet which became a reminder of my journey. In 2003 I discovered quilting - a creative outlet that brought me peace and a renewed sense of purpose. Last year when I came across Sweet Pea' Bookshelf Quilt embroidery pattern I was inspired to bring most of those book titles to life in a quilt. Using the pattern and the help of an editor I incorporated 236 of those treasured book titles into the design, creating a one-of-a-kind quilted bookcase." |

This Is Only Just the Beginning, But What a Beginning It Is
Our first Surface Design Masterclass is all about Surface Applications and how you can use them on your quilts. It features Lauren Vlcek, Valerie C. White, Kathy McNeil, Kim Lacy, and Kevin Womack, who teach a treasure trove of techniques that have our members creative juices following, and they just can't get enough:
"Really enjoyed watching your Masterclass Shows Have learned so much. I have been a member since the very beginning and it is the one thing I could not give up. I have been using the Chizimi thread for over 25 years since I had it available to me when I had a commercial business. I have won several ribbons in competition from using techniques I learned by watching your shows Thank you for all your hard work putting these shows together." - Charmaine E.
"All of these demonstrations are fascinating and inspiring! I have Inktense pencils and water holding brushes, that I thought I could use to sign my name and fill in tiny appliqué for eyes, etc… I have been a nervous about using them on special projects, but I’m going to start experimenting more with them. Thank you all for these demonstrations, you’re all so very talented!" - @eapwood
"Love, love, love this show. Such talent. So many ideas." - @bettywood5812
"Amazing artists!!! Thank you all for sharing your talents!" - @lindadittrich151

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Silkscreening Landscape Architecture |

"Tree Landscape Architecture Silkscreen" by Lauren Vlcek
At a time when she was in a creative drought, and needing to meet a deadline, Lauren decided to revisit old artwork she had done for inspiration. Majoring in landscape architecture, she came across her college portfolio filled with architectural designs. Inspired by the tree planting construction drawings in the portfolio, Lauren decided to recreate the drawings using silkscreening. This one, of one of the trees, was made by enlarging the image, recreating her original design using a digital cutting machine, and then silkscreening that design onto a small art quilt that she made.
