Featured Quilt - Best Of Show at Road to California 2025
She's done it again. That's right, Kestrel Michaud has taken home another major award. Kestrel was just awarded the prestigious Best Of Show Quilt (Sponsored by Handi Quilter) at Road to California 2025 for her quilt, The Arrival. This quilt is hitting each stop on the awards circuit, as it won The Innova Mastery Award (Sponsored by Innova) for Contemporary Artistry at Houston International Quilt Festival 2024 last fall. Congratulations Kestrel!
A fantastic quilt with a fantastic premise, The Arrival tells a story that comes straight from Kestrel's creative mind. She says, “This lush tropical paradise is the scene of a monumental event. An airship from the human realm has just arrived. It carries an emissary, who hopes to establish friendly diplomatic relations with the resident elves in the interest of learning about their connection to—and mastery of—magic! This meeting will have a resonating effect on both cultures.”

"Cormorant's Perch" by Wen Redmond
Wen says of Cormorant's Perch, "Spending time in nature is a large part of my art making. It takes me on a journey inside, when I’m outside. The same image was developed via image editing with different images of painted fabrics. The result symbolizes the weather’s changes and the different moods that project from my mind."
