Featured Quilt - Second Place Modern Traditionalism at QuiltCon 2025

Circle Play by Jennifer Candon won Second Place - Modern Traditionalism (Sponsored by String & Story) at QuiltCon 2025. Jennifer's quilt poses several artistic questions that she wants the viewer to answer when they see quilt. She says, "Creating primary and secondary shapes is central to the modern quilting aesthetic. In this contemporary interpretation of a traditional orange peel design, I explore why viewers "see" one shape versus another - a circle or a four petal flower. What role do color, value, line and shape placement play in how viewers' eyes track and interpret subject matter? What other cultural biases influence how we "read" a work of art?"

Building a Face with Phyllis Cullen

Let's "Face" It, You're Going To Love Making A Portrait Quilt

Phyllis Cullen demonstrates how a single pattern can be used to create three distinct portraits in our latest show. By layering values, cutting through a fabric layer to reveal depth, and using fabric bits as paint, she creates stunning, one-of-a-kind faces.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Lovely Red Rose

"A Rose is a Rose" by Katie Pasquini Masopust

A Rose is a Rose measures only 28" x 22", and was created using Katie's log cabin technique. It takes its inspiration from, you guessed it, a rose. See if you can spot where the log cabins start to change into the image of the rose.
