"Mary's Mural" Has Been Unveiled As Part of the Quilt City USA Murals Project in Paducah, Kentucky
While we anxiously await the unveiling of Ricky Tims' mural of his award-winning quilt, The Visitation, a new mural has joined the wall masterpiece murals in Paducah, Kentucky as part of their Quilt City USA Murals Project. Mary's Mural, depicting a Vintage Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, was brought to life by lead artist Char Downs and Stefanie Graves, and took center stage as it was made public for the first time this June in a grand ceremony.
From Quilt City USA Murals:
"We had a lovely afternoon celebrating the unveiling of Mary’s Mural - Diamond Field. Thank you to everyone who attended and honored Mary’s legacy with us, and to lead artist Char Downs and Stefanie Graves for all of the hard work and dedication to creating it.
The quilt chosen for Mary’s Mural was found on her bed and was one of many from her personal collection. This quilt mural reflects the craft she dearly admired and stands as a fitting tribute to her life’s legacy and career-long devotion to Paducah. Stop by the floodwall, check it out, and snap a photo!
We are excited to share that we are continuing to grow! Follow along with us as we document the Quilt City USA Murals journey."
