I had to chuckle at your comment about Lawrence Welk. I had grandparents like that too. My other grands I didn't see as often.

When I got involved in quilting many years ago, my ears pricked up when I heard two things: "there's room for everyone" and "it's your quilt, make it any way you want". Whatever 'it' is may not appeal to me, but if 'it' appeals to you, go for 'it'!
