Description:

Artist Statement: "My quilts focus on lines, circles, and arcs in radiating configurations developed to draw in the viewer's eye, and at the same time satisfy my fastidious need for order and repetition. Dyes, sun printing with a modified commercial stencil, acrylic paints, and threads of various weights were combined to give shape and texture to the quilt. Vibrant colors were used to draw attention and keep me smiling as I work and achieve the order I desire."

 

Techniques: Hand Dyeing and Painting; Sun Printing using a modified commercial stencil; Dotting using the Kyra Reps technique; Machine Quilting

What was the original fabric. In some of the closeups it looks like cotton flannel because it appears there’s quite a bit of nappiness to the fabric. Is that why it was a slippery quilt?
