Description:

Parterre by Sonia Higgs took First Prize in the Traditional Quilts category (Sponsored by Vlieseline Freudenberg UK) at the 2025 Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, UK. Designed by Shelly Kelly, Sonia hand quilted her work and used colored fabrics that were "all hand needle turned onto the white background" to create the look of her quilt.

 

One judge praised Sonia's quilt saying, "I like your alternative colour choice for stained glass effect. Calm and harmonious colour choices."

I was lucky enough to see the quilt at Festival of Quilts. It attracted quite a crowd around it and everyone was amazed at the stunning design and construction. It is truly beautiful from a distance and close up. Just fabulous

Absolutely breathtaking masterpiece! Never seen such an harmonious Quilt in colour and
design of the blocks.
