Description:
Monkeys in My Hair (Evie) by Deborah S. Hyde has just won the Handi Quilter Best of Show award at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival. It previously won the Best Wall Quilt Award at the 2022 AQS QuiltWeek in Grand Rapids. Go deep into the quilt and see if you can spot all of the details because it's here where you'll figure out where the quilt got its name. Deborah says, "Monkeys in My Hair has been my most ambitious project so far. There are 2 monkeys in her hair, but can you count the birds? The butterflies? The Frogs? The dragonflies? Even I have not taken time to add up the bees, flies, and ladybugs!"
Artist Statement: "This art is a celebration of my granddaughter Evie, her portrait and her personality."
