Description:
The idea for Markets Of India originally came from being approached by Freddy Moran to recreate a quilt from Roderick Kiracofe's book, Uncovential and Unexpected: American Quilts Below the Radar 1950 - 2000. Pati liked the idea and told Freddy that she would make one too. Freddy being Freddy finished hers in about a week, while Pati struggled to create hers. She felt she was doing the legwork for it but not putting any of herself into it. So she set it aside, and then took a trip to India. Inspired by the experience, she returned home and chopped up what she had started of the initial quilt and created Markets Of India as it is today. She cut up the strata she had made to make pots like she had seen in India and stacked them high to represent the not always aligned and slightly askewed nature of everything she saw in the markets there.
