Artist Statement:
Vultures are our friends and play an indispensable role in our ecosystem, despite their reputation as omens of doom. They are highly social, living in large flocks and showing no aggression. The critically endangered Rüppell's Griffon Vulture, native to Africa's Sahel region, faces threats from poisoning by poachers and farmers. It holds the record as the highest-flying bird, soaring to over 37,000 feet, and staying aloft for over seven hours a day.
