Description:
Artist Statement: "One of my favorite traditional quilts is the Delectable Mountains quilt, so I used that as the inspiration for this design. I used the same technique to make the block, but before cutting up the half square triangle, I inserted 1/2" stripes which added a lot of detail to the finished design. When I finished the first block of this quilt, it had a striking resemblance to the desert spoon plant also known as the sotol plant, which is found all over central and west Texas. They are in the family of yucca plants and have long, skinny, serrated spines. This quilt became my "Ode to Texas" because I designed it only a few months before I moved across the country. This quilt feels like home to me."
Techniques Used: Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted on a Frame (longarm)
