The group, consisting of LouAnn Jacobson Ball, Sandy Farlow, Cheryl Clement, Marie Wirth, Shar Short, Janet Huffman, Colleen Barnett, Susan Madden, and Judith Swain, took inspiration for their work from a photograph by Susan Madden of the Cliff Palace in in Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado. Not made as a single individual quilt, the Blocks Without Borders Art Quilt Group made nine individual "strip" quilts that when placed side-by-side create the entire Cliff Palace Dreams, which is quite the sight to behold.
