Incredible!! How long did it take to make? And, I can't see the same pattern in the second picture as the first square in a square.

I just saw this quilt at Paducah today, and pictures and words don’t do it justice. It is stunning! Angela Petrocelli was standing by the quilt and explained how she made it. Each of the squares consists of tiny paper pieced squares with so many overlapping seams that they are puffy. The different colors used within each square give it the shaded look. If she had not been there, I would have sworn the quilt was painted rather than pieced because the colored pieces looked more like brushstrokes than pieced fabric. Amazing!

The beautiful little swirls disappear looking at it from afar. I wonder if using white or gray would bring forward the colors.
It definitely says perseverance, focus and determination.
