Artist Statement: “In the same way that stars can only be seen at night, there is beauty that is only experienced in hardship. This quilt was inspired by those profound moments of love amid our suffering, laughter in our sorrow, hope in our despair...the beauty in the broken.”

 

Techniques Used: Turned-Edge Hand Appliqué, Hand Piecing, Open Work, Free-Motion Machine Thread Lace, Domestic Machine Quilting

The backside was also was breathtaking! All her quilting was visible. I was fortunate to hear Kathy talk about her quilt at Quilt Canada 2023.???

There isn't one thing about this quilt that isn't breathtaking. The pops of yellow in the center and then quietly
around the border really break up the beautiful red and green. The open work and where it's located are
genius. I can't say enough...
